Tahnik & Tahlik
Their first taste of faith
Welcome your little one by following the sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, guided by our caring asatizah.
Why It Matters
Your baby's first Sunnah
Follow the steps of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in welcoming your newborn. Make du'a for your child's well-being, faith and future, ask Allah to bless them, and symbolically welcome your little one surrounded by your loved ones.
'Aishah رضي الله عنها also narrated: "Newborn babies were brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He would invoke blessings upon them and perform tahnik for them with dates."
Reference: Sahih Muslim 2147
Samurah ibn Jundub رضي الله عنه narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: "A child is held in pledge for his Aqiqah. It should be slaughtered for him on the seventh day, his head should be shaved, and he should be given a name."
Reference: Sunan Abi Dawud 2838; also narrated in Jami' at-Tirmidhi 1522
